Case study — flagship launch
A nonprofit touring all 50 states for America's 250th anniversary, carrying an aging WordPress site that couldn't keep up — and a hosting bill that never ended.
The US 250 Tour is a national nonprofit crossing the United States for the Semiquincentennial — America's 250th anniversary. Their website was the public face of the tour: the schedule, the story, the photo record of every stop, and the signup form for supporters along the route.
The old WordPress site was slow, dated, and expensive to touch. Every change went through a maintenance arrangement. Galleries choked on the volume of photography a 50-state tour generates. And the site had to stay live through the transition — a national tour can't have its website go dark.
Domain cutovers are where agency projects go wrong — sites go dark, email breaks, certificates fail. We run a pre-armed cutover: both sides configured and verified before DNS flips, email records untouched (guaranteed in writing), and a verification sweep across every page, form, and gallery after the switch.
Total downtime during the launch: zero minutes. The client's email never blinked.
The site runs on modern edge infrastructure with no servers and no database — which means no hosting bill, no maintenance contract, and nothing to break at 2am. The nonprofit has paid $0 in hosting since launch. Over a typical agency relationship, that difference alone is worth $2,400–6,000 per year — money that now goes to the mission instead.
And ownership is total: the code, the content, the domain, the admin keys. If the client ever wanted a different developer, they could hand over the repository the same day.
Everything in this build is now a documented, repeatable playbook — the media pipeline, the form wiring, the zero-downtime cutover runbook, the admin tooling. That's why we can deliver in days what agencies quote in months. Your project starts where this one finished.
